I'm Christopher McKelvy, a professional portrait photographer serving the rich and varied people of the Golden Crescent and Coast Bend including Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Victoria, Texas.

I grew up in the rural Calhoun County and graduated from UHV in 2003. After my corporate career took me around the state, I settled back down close to home where small town life is a little slower, a little friendlier. It is good to be home again.

My journey into photography began at a young age when I received a Fisher-Price 110 film camera as a gift. As I grew older and my skills progressed, I transitioned to more advanced film cameras and eventually DSLRs.

It wasn't until my grandmother asked me if I experienced life through a camera lens that I realized photography was truly my calling as an artist. That moment was enlightening, and it made me appreciate the depths of my passion.

My first collection, created during high school, centered around a sunrise and sunset project that highlighted the breathtaking beauty of our local area during those magical times of day. This initial experience ignited my love for capturing fleeting moments.

After high school, I began working as a photojournalist, where my editor guided me in refining my film skills and developing my photographic vision. This opportunity taught me invaluable lessons about composition and visual storytelling.

During that time, I also discovered my passion for travel photography, which seamlessly blended with my love for landscapes and people. Just before starting college, I embarked on a summer photo journey through the western United States, capturing stunning scenes and vistas along the way. I found immense joy and a deep appreciation for exploring new areas and uncovering interesting stories in everyday people.
